2nd gear out here in Northern CA. Most courses are VERY tight and there is no way you could get up to 100, if you hit 60 you are flying in our courses, I have also never seen or even heard of an actual accident at any of the autocrosses out here, and there are quite a few that go on on a regular basis (NASA, SCCA, SHELBY club, BMW CCA, Alfa CLub, etc.)


I did have sort of an accident 2 years ago at an autox, we had a long course setup and i was on the back straight doing about 100mph...coming into my braking zone and a 180 right hander, and the pedal hit the floor, i downshifted to slow her down a little and went off course, came a few inches from a tree...(this is in dallas in August)
I paused a few seconds and checked my pants and backed thecar out....and to my surprise, the grass began to burn! From that off road excursion, i broke a metal bracket that connects the engine mount. That was the last time i used stock brake pads.

Another accident...a M roadster hit a fence and a Z3 rolled his car.
