Buying an M3 E30 (archive)

I'm looking into purchasing an m3. I live in the Northeast (USA) . I don't know much about them, only what I've read on various pages. What do I need to know whem I looking for one of these? Are there any years that are better than others? How many miles are these cars good for? I have a new chevy truck but want something fun to drive in the summer. Any information would be appreciated. I'm looking to spend anywhere from 10-15K.
