well for your budget you can find a very nice m3. For $15000 you can get something with around 70k-90k miles on it. The biggest thing to look out for is service. If a car was really taken care of then miles shouldnt be much of a factor. If taken care of the motors will last up to 200k and more. You really have to keep up on the service. Here are some things to look for:
-Timing Chain and Tensioner
-Rust
-Accidents(look in door jambs for over spray)
-check the top of the windshield(if the paint is starting to crack its been heavily tracked)
-control arms
-check under the fenders to see if the tires rubalso be prepared of beat up interior. BMW leather sucks if not treated regularly. Be prepared also that the rear wing has a reputation of cracking paint.
I dont know if it is still for sale but Ron Checca has a beautiful M3 that he wants to sell.
Dont be affraid of higher mileage cars. If taken car of the S14 motor is almost bullet proof.
