I love to drive this car. It works fine. A 325e is easier and more fun to drive around town, and a 325i is nearly as fast, but there is only one E30 M3. Both the 325e and the 325i were heavily treaked and with M3 suspensions. My 325i actually pulled the E30 M3 for a while but not in the higher speeds.

The only time these cars come up deficient is when we drivers ask more of the car than for what is was designed. An E30 M3 is a street version of a race car. It is very civilized and driveable but not a dragster. The engine does not really built power below 5k rpm. I do not waste time, gas or wear and tear on rice burners or 5.0's unless we are gonna run on a course or above 100mph. Otherwise they usually win. Given a long enough stretch of road an E30 will outrun an E36, but why kill the car. We can buy more horsepower but it hurts the car to do so.

so much for my biased opinion.
