Is it normal for the coolant hose(the large hose that connects radiator and coolant pipe) to compress after the car is turned off?....the temp before turning off the car was a little below the halfway mark. no its not normal ,you have a bad coolant pressure cap on the reservoir,its creating a vacuum as the coolant cools ,the cap should vent outside air into the reservoir to prevent this from happening.
