Engine oil color (archive)

I use Mobil1 fully synthetic. Its been about 11 months and about 2000 miles since my last oil change (I use my car once a week only- around 20,000 miles on the odo as of now). The oil's color is dark caramel/dark brown. Still thick and seems to be in good condition.

However I compared it to my other cars' engine oils. The newer cars' oils color were almost like they just came straight out of the can. They were transparent golden in color and just a couple of shades darker than unused oil. Whereas my M3's oil, though still dark caramle/dark brown in color is translucent and not almost transparent as with the other cars' oils.

By the way, the other cars' year models are 95,96 and 99.

Any comments? Is it normal for our older cars to have oil color much darker than those of newer cars?
