The E36 is a better car for daily driving- smooth 6cyl vs. the buzzy 4 for the E30. If you are not prepared to work on these cars yourself, they can be fairly costly to maintian. It is hard to have these cars absolutely perfect at all times. They are reliable when taken care of, but do require a fair amount of attention. It will put a bigger smile on your face than the E36 will though. FWIW, my first M3 was a daily driver, put 30k on it with basic maintenence- included in that are the intake gaskets and the water pump. Those were the only "major" things my car required within that mileage. Hope this helps some.
