I used a clay bar, fine cut polich, sealer glaze and carnuba wax on my 88 with Zinnoberrot paint. It took close to 6 hrs to do all the steps but when I was done the car looked brand new. I picked up all of these detail products at the local Pep Boys store. They had a "Mothers California Gold" kit that had a clay bar and spray in it. There is also some good detailing info in the BMW Enthusiast's Companion Book on page 42. HTH, Chris I have an 88 Alpineweiss M3. After a close look at the paint it seems it needs a compound or a good wax job. What do you guys/gals recommend for this job? In addition I have been hearing something about a clay bar of some sort, that cleans the paint of dirt amnd impurities. Can someone expand on this?
