Thanks for the feedback. My car is not an M3, it is a 325ic. The car came from the factory with the special appearance package known as M Technic. I replaced my differential to gain more torque. THe car definitely has more power. Theoretically I will loose some top speed, but some say that top speed actually increases since the car has more power to pull itself through the air. I also had an open differential, which I replaced with a limited-slip unit. This will allow both tires to spin, even if one looses traction.
Your car should already have a 4.10 limited-slip differential, so you would not need to do the swap for performance reasons. I just thought I would post it to the e30 M3 board, since the replacement process is the same for the 2 cars.
