I don't know much about stereos, but I do know the the M3 has a stock power amplifier that really sucks (by todays standards), and the wiring is ass-backwards. The amplifiers in many of todays head units are much better than the stock power amp in the M3 (which is located in truck, on the left side). There are no crossovers or anything with the stock system. I would guess that he has to get something to block out the mid and high frequencies, if he plans on just plugging into the stock wiring (in which case, he needs speaker wire inputs on his amp, not RCA inputs, unless he has a head unit that can support it).

Sorry guys-I drive a shitbox VW but have a friend with an M3 who could use your help.He wants to keep his existing stock stereo set-up but add a subwoofer to the system. He has purchased a good aftermarket 2-channel amp and a sub.
I have no clue on how he would go about hooking this setup in to his stock system. Any suggestions please ? Thanks.
