Once the engine is warm the thermostat not only allows coolant to flow through the radiator, but it also keeps it from flowing directly back into the engine. That's actually a disadvantage as far as cooling goes, because less coolant passes through the radiator.

bellow it is talked about but the idea seems like it must have some down side besidestaking a while to warm up. Also if I was to do this how do you actually get the stuff out of the housing??? TIA
