I started hearing a hideous squeeling noise. I looked under the hood and it appears that the pulley for the air conditioner compressor is slipping. The belt seems maybe a tiny bit loose, but not that loose. It spins the pulley a little bit and it turns kind of erratically. If I shut down the engine and restart it, it works for awhile until I rev the engine, then it starts again. It also goes away when I turn off the A/C. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas what is going wrong? Just a loose belt, or compressor trouble? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I needed to replace all the bushings between the aircon compressor and bracket. I guess since our car is more than ten years old these stuff tends to go, while your at it I would recommend changing bushings in the alternator too. Good luck.
