I have seen a lot of threads re: e36 m3 tentioners instead of e30 m3. What is the advantage?

Sorry guys but just to make sure I'm not loading you guys with a bunch of crap, I checked the parts CD.

The timing chain tensioner for the E30 M3 and (at least the 3.0L) E36 M3 are the same *exact* part number including the spring.

11 31 1 307 782 chain tensioner
11 31 1 307 053 compression spring

You may also need
07 11 9 963 418
07 11 9 963 355
Thes are both gasket rings that sometimes it's all you need to replace if you're leaking oil from the tensioner area. YMMV and good luck.
