Standard 15 x 7 are offset et30
EvoII/Evo Sport 16 x 7.5 are offset et27
Most wheels these days will not fit the e30 M3 without spacers because the offsets are wrong. For instance most wheels from E36's are offset et36 (coincidence). These means that the inner rim of the wheel will actually strike the suspension upright. Therefore you need to fit a spacer of about 12-15mm, giving you an offset of et24 to et21 (36 - 12 = 24).
Your choice is to run wheels from other models that require spacers or choose one of the bespoke/racing wheel manufacturers who make wheels in any offset you want.
I have gone down the bespoke wheel route as I don't want spacers. You pay your money and take your choice.
I hope this clears up your confusion.
I may get flamed for this, but here goes. The only thing I don't love about my car is the stock 15" wheels. I see a lot of pictures of our cars with other than stock wheels, but the sizes and offset information just confuses me to death. In the new Roundel there is an ad for Bekkers Import. They show a wheel called Roundell Cross Spoke in various sizes and offsets. Can anyone look at that and tell me if any of them work well on our cars? Thanks!
