If you own an M6, then you pretty much know what you'll be getting into! As far as the motor goes, you can use yours as a guide, as the S14 is basically the same, minus two cyls. Sounds like the car has been hit in the front if there is body panel misalignment. That should impact the selling price signifigantly. If the guy isn't forthcoming with info regarding your concerns, walk away. It the car looks good, however, get it checked out by someone who really knows these older M cars. At 70K miles, that car should be in near pristine shape and just getting broken in! Good luck!
