Just wondering how the grill badge attaches to the grill. Is there something from behind? Or is it friction fit? Adhesive?

Chester - the grill badge attaches via two metal tabs. The tabs protrude straight out of the back of the badge and you bend the tabs around one of the slats in the grill. These tabs sometimes come loose which causes the grill badge to slide back and forth during cornering. If you remove the driver's side grill you can push down the tabs to tighten their hold.

I was able to buy a new badge about 1.5 years ago. They used to be sold by BMW, TMS etc... you might try there. They are not cheap - about $35 as i recal. It would be a shame if they became NLA. I always put a piece of painter's tape over mine during long roadtrips or track driving to prevent rock chips from destroying the badge.
