you'll need the front clip from an iX because the shock towers are welded in at a different angle than all other e30's. consider sourcing two pair of shock towers and sandwiching the second set onto the first - seam weld thoroughly and go overboard with rust prevention - for extended durability. what you'll add in weight will be minor compared to the increased stiffness and chassis longevity. fenders from the m3 will bolt on with minimal effort. you can even go further and source the evo III fenders for the slightly wider tires that they'll allow.by comparison, welding in the rear quarter panels will be a breeze. if it were me, i'd start with a four door iX as the platform. it's not as if the chassis # is going to add any value once the project's complete.
i have no earthly idea how to fit the iX's front driveshafts through the oil pan on the m50 engine. frankly, i don't think that it can be done cost effectively but it sure will be impressive if it can be done.
