They didn't have to break my windshield when they removed it, and it even had a crack in it. Rust is pretty common there, in the corners, where the water collects under the seal. Any body shop should be able to sand and repaint it, but with body shops, as with most things, you get what you pay for. If they do break you're windshield, I have one from the factory, been used for 400 miles, and has the tint strip at the top. Email me if you're interested.
