A full rebuild runs from $6,000 to $10,000, and you can spend more if you want, depending on the extent of the work done...so we do not do this often. With correct maintaince, the upper engine can last 175,000 - 250,000 miles before needing work. This part of the bill is generally in the $2,500 to $3,500 range. If affordable, is reasonable to do the lower engine at the same time. Many people upgrade their engines before this point.
