upon washing my car, i noticed the rear end having a not-so-bright alpine white shine. it looks dirty, almost slightly grey. even after a good hearty wash. i ignored it and kept on living life. after a long drive in her i had a more then normal ammount of bug guts that just were not comming off with the normal hand wash. i picked up some bug&tar removal. didnt do squat. thats when i got the idea for using a cleaner called softscrub. tiny microscopic grains clean the surface [usually in the kitchen or in the bathroom] BUT in this case. i worked it on lightly onto the front spoiler. voila! the bugs were gone, as well as the black unsightly tar bits! yes!
i decided to use this slight abrasive to the rear end as well . and during that process i learned what was going on. it was removing the old wax!
overtime the 10yr old wax has just turned the surface a dull looking white. not so hot if you ask me.
i continued to SLOWLY work through the entire alpine white surface of my car and it was astonishing!
after the entire softscrub overhaul, i then did a good ol wax job [or 2] she looks amazing! i would have never thought my car would look so damn good!
so far there are no side effects, i just reccomend being careful with the softscrub, since it is an abrasive.
anyone else done anything like this before?
[expect some pix in the next few days]
