Car dies after normal driving (archive)

Here is an odd one. My 88 E30 M3 just had a tune up (cap and rotor, ignition wires). Previous to the tune up, the car was running rough. A day before the tune up, the car died while sitting at a stoplight. When it died, it sounded like the car had flooded. After letting the car set overnight, the car started up again, and I drove it to the mechanic. After the tune-up, the car ran much better. However, 2 days after the tune up, the car died again while sitting in traffic. I let it set for about a half-hour, then it started and drove it home. The following day, I drove it around the neighborhood, and the car died the same way, going down a hill (the accellerator stopped working, and the car coasted on compression to the bottom of the hill). I let it sit overnight, and it started in the morning again, and I drove it home (can you see the pattern?). The starter turns over, and my fiance said this morning that black smoke was coming out the exhaust (I am assuming that this is gas burning off after flooding).

Can anyone diagnose or guess what is going on? This just started recently, and I dont want to take the car to a shop and pay 200$ to have some connection tightened.

Any help would be appreciated.
