It's a lot less money and has the valve on the inside also. You can get Purolator just about anywhere. I was skeptic at first, but I checked it out and the purolator does have a spring loaded device in the bottom of the oil filter that supposedly adds pressure to the oil system keeping it running properly. I haven't put it in yet, just found out about it last week and bought it the other day. Going to install it in about 2 weeks. i was told the Fram PH3816 shouldn't be used because it doesn't have the spring loaded device. I have them both sitting here right now and the purolator looks better on the inside. Buy one and you'll see what I mean.Purolater Oil Filter # L10183
