Okay guys, I know a few of you have had pinging with the JC/TMS chip, even with 92 OCT gas. I swapped the chip out and went back to stock. The pinging was gone and the car ran cleaner (failed first smog test w/JC chip and passed the second w/stock chip). I'm just wondering if EVERYONE is experiencing this pinging or is it just those in SoCal. I'm going to swap it out for a Dinan chip to see if it still pings. This pinging side-effect isn't worth the 2-3 extra HP it has over the Dinan.

I can say from my experience having a JC chip, living in Colorado at 5280 ft., I haven't experienced this. We also use oxygenated fuels from November thru April and the highest grade available here is 91, but still no problems! I'd be interested to know if it still happens after the Dinan chip is installed or if unplugging the altitude sensor actually solves the problem!
