What is the crank angle sensor used for on the bosch le jetronic systems? (I have a 1985 323i) Is this for engine rpm signal to ecu only or does it have something to do with economy gauge and/or inspection light as well. I am fitting an aftermarket ecu and wouldlike to use this sensor if its not used for anything else - saves modifying the distributor.
