Jon , I own a body shop in connecticut and can assure you they are true in there statement to you 2 stage is the only way to get the results you are looking for , as far as depth there will be no differnce as long as your current finish is still well polished , the only way you will be able to tell is over time sitting in the sun you original finish will fade faster dure to less uv protection etc .
