The throw-out bearing will make noise when you push the clutch in if it is bad. When the clutch is disengaged, the throw-out bearing is not doing anything. The tranny in our cars make a rattle at idle with the clutch disengaged. The sound quiets if you put the clutch in. this is normal. The clutch will normaly last over 150,000 miles, by alot.
