The M3 wiring is slightly different from the regular E30, Aux and Constant are opposite, and ground is black/brown instead of brown (at least in my M3). Since our cars use "common ground" speaker wiring you will need a Soundgate Power Match receiver interface, Crutchfield sells them for about $40. If you don't get one of these little boxes you will have to rewire all of your speakers to the new radio, and by-pass the factory amp. I don't know which year you have but if you have a dash fader, just cut it out and put the wires into the Soundgate box. Ryan325e helped me with this diagram, and someone on this board told me the about the aux and constant being opposite of the regular E30. I bought the Blaupunkt Honolulu, it sounds sooo much better than the stock radio. When I first hooked everything up my presets would not stay, but after a few hours of driving this problem went away. My dad said it was something about capacitors charging up. Good luck, here is the diagram.

Radio illumination---> Red/Grey
Radio Constant-------> Red/Green
Radio Ignition-------> Red/Green
Radio Ground---------> Brown/Black

Existing radio wiring:
White – Antenna
Red/Grey – dimmer
Purple/Grey – Constant
Red/Green – Aux
Ground – Brown
Left pos - Yellow
Left neg - Yellow/Brown
Right pos - Blue
Right neg - Blue/Brown
Wiring to/from the fader:
Coming in:
Left pos - Yellow
Left neg - Yellow/Brown
Right pos - Blue
Right neg - Blue/Brown
Coming out:
Front Left pos - Yellow/Red
Rear Left pos - Yellow/Black
Left common - Yellow/Brown
Front Right pos - Blue/Red
Rear Right pos - Blue/Black
Right common - Blue/Brown

I purchased the Kenwood 8017 Cd/Mp3 player, and I can't do it! All these Freagin colored wires, what do they mean to me?

TIA,
Magnus
