...what it is. If I were to guess, I'd expect it was the metal bow-shaped bracket where the shift carrier attaches to the transmission. Mine broke and my shifter became virtually useless as it lost its pivot point. Luckily I was only a block from a shop so I man-handled (two hands) it into second and limped over.

The new part is a bit thicker than the old one. The old one snapped right across each bolt hole.

Good luck. If that's it, hopefully they'll be able to get the part quickly.

I am stranded in Austin..
I have had a failure in the linkage for the
transmission and need to find a shop
(other than JR BMW) to replace the
shifter rod, and a few of the bitch clips
on the transmission...
