New radar Detectors! (archive)

Well, I have been hearing about these 2 new radar detectors that just recently came out that are more sensitive and better than the Valentine One!! Some information I hear about from friends and others from Magazines. The 2 that are supposively better are the Passport 8500 and the BEL 980. In one magazine (I think it was Road and Track), out of 100 points, the Escort 8500 got 97 points, BEL 980 got 94 points, and the Valentine One came in third place with only 77 points. Has anyone had any experience with these radar detectors and can point me in the right direction. I have a friend that can get me a 35% discount on any radar detector I want so I am going to go ahead and buy one. Please give me some feedback on these radar detectors! Thanx in advance!!
