You say that #7 is cracked, well I think that is the Voltage Regulator and I'd imagine that if it's busted up it probably isn't doing it's job. I replaced mine about a year and ahalf ago and I believe it was only like $17.00 or so. I had some if not all of the symptoms you're having a while back. Mater of fact I was stranded out late one night because of it. Turned out to be that the blue wire that goes to #5 had snapped (brittle from removing and replacing so often) at the connector. The wire was touching the connector just enough to maintain power for about a week before it broke, during that time I had low excelleration power from dead stops, check lights, etc. So check that all your connectors are good before putting it all back together. And get you a new Voltage Reg. - HTH...
