If so, your steering column is rattling just under the dash where it enters the firewall. Its easy to get to, just undo the kick panel pieces and follow the steering column to where it meets the floor and enters the engine compartment. '90 and '91 cars have a slightly different steering column that has a bend in it to bring the steering wheel closer and more straight too the driver. This is a good thing, but the problem is that the bolt that connects the normal portion of the column and the portion that bends tends to come loose, causing the steering system to rattle. Its very hard to tighten the bolt, you will probably need someone to hold a wrench on the bolt and someone to turn the wheel to tighten it, so good luck. If you don�t have a '90 or '91, then your problem is something else!

Maybe some one could help me trace the source of a front end rattle. When I drive over large bumps or uneven surfaces I get a loose sounding rattle in my front end. It seems like it is coming from the left side primarly. I've jacked up the car and inspected suspension fittings. Eveything seems tight. My control arm bushings are fairly new, my shocks I don't know how old, original springs and strut mount bushings I'm fairly sure. Are there front subfrme bushings that go bad?
Any advice is helpful. I want to replace the right part
