There might be a loophole: In Mass. a good few years ago I used to go to the Reigistry of Motor Vehicles and claim I lost a plate. They would issue a lost plate paper that was the get out of jail card and order another plate. It cost $15 but I felt it was worth it. Surely most states have a similar system.

Heard from somebody this AM that a new law has gone into effect in California -- that running without a front license plate is now a $100 ticket, NOT a fix-it tikcet anymore. I checked the DMV website and could not find anything. Anyone else have knowledge of this?
