Before you get the resonator (or straight pipe), I just want to make sure you are aware of a few things...
1) Its illegal and you can get in big trouble if caught with it installed
2) The exhaust will smell much worse than with the cats. This is to be expected, but it will probably be worse than you think it will. Trust me, it can be very annoying.. Ever smelled the exhaust coming out of the car when you first start it up in the cold? It smells like that ALL the time.
3) If your trunk is not sealed well, exhaust gases will enter the trunk and then through the back seat and into the cabin while driving (not good).
4) Its harmful to the environment (duh)
Just wanted to make sure you know the facts so you can be expecting it... If these points are not a problem to you, definitely go for it, because the resonator DOES make a big difference. If you are using a quiet exhaust (SS, Stromung, stock), you might want to consider straight pipes, but you stand a better chance of getting in trouble because at least with the resonator it LOOKS like you have a cat..

Exhaust seems to be the topic O' the day....

Just got my car up on a lift this AM and the PO put together a totally cheesy exhaust system that would make the even the cro-magnons at Midas cringe! And since PO just welded up a new OEM muffler instead of using clamps, that will also become insta-junk.

Anyway, I am now shopping for a new center section (from the header flange back) and rear muffler. Since the crappy system that I already have does in fact have cats, smog will not be an issue -- I can just switch in time for the bi-annual check up.

Based on initial research, it looks like Supersprint is my best (and least expensive) option and that BMP has best prices. My options for the center section are a straight-through pipe (50 bux cheaper) or the resonator center section. Does anybody have experience with either setup, and what are the pros/cons. I have been following the recent threads on exhaust and I do not want to pay a grand for the stainless center section with cats -- though it looks like a nice option.

Any comments are appreciated!
