Bill
Is there a factory CD ignition box, like on Porsches,
No, e30 m3s use a normal type coil and a spark signal from the ECU. The TDC sensor is a magnetic thingy (tech term) that goed through the bellhousing and reads off the flywheel.
It appears that there is not enough clearance to get a wrench or scoket around the bolt heads with enoguh grip not to twist the bolt heads. Any suggestions?
These can get put on too tight. It is steel threads into Aluminum. Try some penatrating oil. you can get a 10mm box end and a needle nose Vise-Grip pliers on the bolts to help twist it. I put some NeverSeaze on the theads before I put the cap back on. In a WORST case, the radiator shroud can be pulled to get better access.
Hope that helps
