I ordered one and sent it back. It didn't fit very well but you may be able to make it work. I know someone else that also had a hard time fitting it up. In both cases, there was some melted plastic involved. The other guy was a BMW tech.

Also, I don't like the sound. It sounds good just off idle and sounds good at full throttle (though not really better than the Stromung or Supersprint). The REALLY ANNOYING thing about the B&B is the insane resonance at certain RPMs. Imagine you are cruising on the freeway. You're at 2000rpm and you are slowly speeding up. The sound is fine...a nice burble from the exhaust. Then, as you approach 2500rpm (I know one resonance point is right around there) the sound gets INSANELY LOUD inside the car. Your head is vibrating. Your ears feel like you just dove to the bottom of the swimming pool. It's nuts.

Anyway, it seemed like that resonance was always right at the RPM where I wanted to be. It sucked.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I sent it back? There's a reason that you always see them used. It always says that it was "too loud." You think, "Hmm... loud is good. I like loud." But it's not that loud. It just resonates like a mutha'.

I've heard they are the loudest of the bunch, but do they give any greater breathing/power? I found a new one for $200 but I don't want the neighbors stoning the car!!

They used to make a cheaper, non-stainless version along with an all stainless unit. I talked to someone at Stromung recently and he told me that they had much more interest in the stainless version so that's all they make now for the E30 M3. They do still make some non-stainless units for other cars.

I have had experience with stock, Supersprint, Borla, B&B, and Stromung mufflers. The Stromung is the highest-quality unit I have seen as far as design, fit, materials, and construction.

The Borla is also nice. The only things I don't like are the sound and the weird tips. The million mile warranty is nice. I guess they can do that because of their chambered design...no packing to get messed up.

If you want to know anything else about the "new" Stromung, call them up: (714) 596-2237 They are very helpful.

Hi Jon,

I have a Stromung right now.. it's toasted! Half dollar sized holes in two places. Stromung is not Stainless Steel, unless they've changed that. Yes, stromung sounds awesome, but I really want to go w/an Stainless system that will give a nice warranty.

The Eisenmann looks nice, but a bit more expensive--and I think Borla and SS is already way up there.

Thanks for the comments though.

Stromung. It is the same basic design as the Supersprint, i.e. straight-through rather than chambered. It sounds deeper than the SS at low RPMs due to the size and resonance properties of the tips but it really screams up top. The fit is top-notch...just as good as the new BMW unit I had on there.

I believe the Borla is a chambered design and won't sound as much like the SS.

Korman and TC Kline like the Stromung. I like the Stromung. What else could you ask for? :)

The other one to check is the Eisenmann from Bekkers. They only show the DTM tips but they can order straight tips. The main thing to look for is the straight-through design. That's what gives the muffler its beautiful high-rpm scream. I'm not sure what type the Eisenmann is but Bekkers could surely tell you.

Both the Stromung and the Eisenmann are stainless steel.

NE1 know if I can get a supersprint muffler with straight tips?

I think I like the sound of the SS better, but if I can't get it w/non-dtm tips, I will opt for the Borla.

Thanks,
Jack
