But you have ellipsoids... Disregard everything I just said. The 9006 (ellipsoid) bulbs are single intensity, and should just remain on when you switch to the highs... Sorry I couldn’t help :-)
This weekend I will be able to snap pics of our '89 (with ellips) if that helps any. Cant do it from here though. Let me know if you still need pics by tomorrow, and I'll post them on bayareamotorsport.

OK, This can't be so hard. The low beam bulbs are 9006, single intensity, 2 wire pigtail connector bulbs. The brown wire from the pigtail is plugged into the brown ground wire in the wiring harness plug. There is a yellow/white wire from the pigtail that is plugged into the yellow/white wire of the harness plug. However, in the harness plug, there is a white/violet wire that comes from the hi beam harness plug that is supposed to supply power to the lo beam light when the hi beams are turned on. However, there is no physical connection between the white/violet wire and the lo beam light bulb itself - on my car...

A picture of the plug from a working system would explain so much!
