In addition to the pictures, I have taken the time to provide an inordinate amount of detail on this car within this email in the hopes that it will answer many of your questions regarding this car that I am receiving, so read carefully...
DESCRIPTION: 1991 model year (last year made, less than 300 imported for 1991 model year, and this car is believed to be within the last 20 imported to the U.S.); approximately 50,650 miles; 4cylinder, 2.3 liter, 195 horsepower, 16 valve, twin-cam engine; 5 speed manual; original Alpine White II exterior paint; black leather interior; SRS airbag steering wheel; ABS brakes; stock BBS M3 wheels; sunroof; air conditioning; power windows, mirrors, and door locks; BMW factory keyless alarm; AM/FM/Cassette 6 speaker stereo; full size spare tire on original BBS wheel; BMW factory tool kit; all books and owners manuals (3 series + M3 supplement); service records; built-in K-40 radar detector; Dinan chip (have original BMW chip); UUC short shift kit; Sparco strut tower brace; cross-drilled front rotors; car cover (Noah Evolution 3 fabric with cable lock); leather covered drink holder; black carpeted floor mats; and BFGoodrich Touring T/A tires sized 205/55/15 front and rear.
LOCATION: The car is located in and is primarily driven within the Charlotte, North Carolina area where in the last year I have driven the car for approximately 7,500 miles. As a consultant, my job requires frequent air travel, therefore the car is kept under car cover at a local airport during the week which is why I've put low miles on the car over the last year.
BACKGROUND: It was prior owned by BMW North America for 2 years (year #1 it was on the BMW NA showroom in New Jersey & year #2 it was a BMW Executive's company car in New Jersey). In mid 1992 it was sold (as a NEW car with 13k miles) to a doctor in upstate New York who owned it for 7 years until trading it in (with 43k miles) to a Mercedes dealer upon his retirement in mid 1999 for a "more comfortable car" (E-Class). The Mercedes dealer decided not to keep the car on the lot (due to it being "too old of a car" for their pre-owned inventory as a 1991 model year) and subsequently sold the car at a Manheim Auto Auction to a high-line pre-owned car dealer in Minneapolis. During the summer of 1999 (after several months of searching) I purchased the car from this dealer and drove it home from Minneapolis, MN to Charlotte, North Carolina.
OTHER: The car has ALWAYS been ADULT driven and has NEVER been smoked in, involved in an accident, or raced on a track. Major driveline components (e.g., engine, transmission, suspension, body panels) have never been rebuilt and are stock as they left the BMW - M Gmbh factory in Germany. Since I have owned the car I have replaced the intake gaskets, front disc brake pads and rotors, and updated the air conditioning system to operate on ozone friendly R-134A freon (these are both very common E30 M3 repairs/updates). On a regular basis the car is meticulously maintained with Meguiars & 3M paint care products and Leatherique & Vinylex for the interior leather and vinyl.
Also note that along with the pictures, I have a Car Fax document I ran on the car around the time that I purchased the vehicle. While not included with the sale of the car (but I might be persuaded to include), is the Bentley 3 Series Service Manual for this car, *rare* and *original* copies of the sales literature that BMW produced for its dealer network on the E30 M3, as well as Speedvision video footage of similar E30 M3's racing in European rallies and the German Touring Car series.
Quite frankly, this car is in incredible shape. It is probably one of the best E30 M3s available on today's market. Remember, this is the last of a rare breed of BMW automobiles. The car is not 100% concours (a rock chip on the front bumper and the prior owner lightly "curbed" 2 of the BBS wheel rim edges) but could easily become a concours car. It is a great daily driver (as I've used it) and I would think this car to be in too good of condition to be converted into a track car.
Please note that since I don't have to sell the car, I'm not looking to give it away. I use it as daily transportation and it has performed flawlessly from day one. I am selling the car as a growing family dictates a need for a larger car with 4 doors (most likely a newer BMW E36 M3 sedan or 540i sport). Note that the sales price is set at $19,000 and I should note that I am relatively firm at this price point with very little room for negotiation. Please, please, PLEASE do NOT waste my time or yours by calling to discuss the car with the intent on lowball purchase offers. Rather than give the car away, I will simply keep it and continue using it as my daily driver.
