Earlier today I was having some major hesitation problems. This evening I installed the e36 m3 tensioner and started her up. I got some rattle for about 1 second then it was gone. I let it idle for about 10 minutes and shut her off for about 5. I came back for a test drive but when I started the car it stayed on for about 10 seconds then it died. The engine stumbled pretty bad. I tried to start it a couple minutes later and this time I revved the engine a little. It revved up but when I let go of the gas the revs dropped very slowly then it died. I have a couple questions.....when installing the tensioner I know the grooved end has to be installed vertically for it to fit the rail. Is it possible to install the tensioner with the grooved end horizontally or will it not fit properly?
What could be causing the engine to stumble? I took out the plugs and the electrodes were light brown...how do I know if they are fouled?
The car seems to run fine was the engine has cooled...
