e36 steering rack in an e30 M3 - Anyone done it? (archive)

I have seen a lot of discussion about this subject in the past via the archives. I have seen the write-up at Zionsville Motorsports and have even spoken with them. Currently, they only have the rack conversion from an e36 325i available, not an e36 M3. They say that the difference would be imperceptable, which may be true. Basically, my questions are: Has anyone actually done the conversion? Was it worth it? Any suggestions? Is the rack from an e36 Z3 the same? Are all e36 racks created equal? What is the meaning of life???? My rack is starting to leak and I need to do something. This sounds like a great idea, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually done it.
