What I learned later is that he collected insurance on the red M3 after the first engine bay fire and then sold the engine and the rest of the car on the second fire. All in all, he may have made a lot of money. Enough to buy an e36 M3 certainly.

The car will still be in top shape, but it is a little more money and time than anticipated. When done right, a repaired car can be as good and as strong as an unhit one...
