hi folks time i contributed something i hope useful
i have used 17inch wheels and tires with little reduction in perermance because i used the lightest wheels and when not possible the lightest tires. Tire rack are very good as they help tell me weight of wheels and tires.
i used wheels 23ibs each so to compensate i used dunlop W10 which only weigh 17.8 ibs each. This is a good combination as the earlier Falkens weighing 24ibs each absolutely killed acceleration and hurt cornering as it bounced more into the struts
hope this helps and also the 215/40 were the sizes used and being smaller in diameter also makes up for heavier than stock power robbing
