General warning to all!!

My master cylinder bracket broke recently.
This apparently is not an unknown problem with BMWs in general.

First, I started to notice my throttle was sticking every once in a while, then finally, the clutch went dead. Purchased a new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, but when I started to replace them. I discoveried that the mounting bracket was cracked. It was causing the master cylinder to get out of alignment and binding on the throttle linkage.

Second, when I ordered the new bracket from my local BMW dealer the computer shows the wrong part number. My M3 came
equipped with an air bag. The computer shows the non-air bag part for my car. The dealer only figured it out when they checked the micro fliche. The micro fliche shows the non air bag and air bag bracket part numbers. It took an week to get if from Germany.

My suggestion if your throttle is sticking and your clutch does not seem to be working as good as usual. Check your bracket right away. The part is a bitch to replace but if your clutch goes out you can't drive. You might even crash it fails at the wrong time. Be careful!!

Take care.
