Your'e spot on. The M3 is difficult to get off the line, if you have loads of grip they bog down, if you have no grip when the engine spins up so do the tyres. I suspect the best technique is about 7000 rpm and side step the clutch......Was the recomended technique for most group B cars !!!!! (in those you either broke the halfshafts or disapeared into the distance)

m3 driver doesn't work for it. The difference between a good take-off and bad is big in m3, where anyone could mash their foot into a torquier pig without thinking. Obviously this is not an accurate comparison, but the point is the same. My m3 will smoke almost anything I come across -with a good launch, but that still isn't what it is about.
