To start this car would be absolute suicide. There was a long thread about this topic on an E34M5 list I read--car in question had 300 miles on it. Basic consensus was that the engine would have to be torn down, cleaned, possibly remachined head, bottom end.

This is a car for the true collector. Chances are that it hasn't been started in years, let alone drivin'. Can you imagine? 1 mile per year?! If you want a car to drive, don't even think about this baby.. if you want to put it in a glass case--go for it!

Very cool discovery though... do you have VIN for it? Maybe it's a rare version.

A car sitting for 13 years undriven most likely has some serious problems. The tires are certainly flat-spotted, the hydraulic system would either be leaking/full of moisture or both, same with the brake system, the engine probably has internal rust and oil that is now a thick sludge and the suspension is most likely out of whack from sitting compressed for so long and depending on the environment in the garage, the plastic/rubber bits might be rotted. On the up side, I'm sure the car is a 10/10 cosmetically - paint/ leather. Tough call. I'd definitely be interested, but very cautious. Even starting the car without checking the engine for water/rust/creatures that have taken up residence could be a very bad thing. The only way to tell would be to bring in a mechanic to check it all out.

Let us know how it goes and get some pictures if you can.

1989 E30 M3

I don't own an m3, and I usually post on the e30 board. 91 318i is what I have. But I have a story to tell ya. I was at my girlfriends house this morning, and we were just playing around. I was chasing her around her house and she ran into the garage, well I went after her. (I had never been in her dads garage before) Her dad owns many cars, so many it would take a day to list them all. Well anyways, I went into the garge and noticed a car sitting under a car cover. I noticed a wing on the back, and from the looks of it sitting there I definatly knew it was an e30 bmw. So I walked over to it, and lifted the cover off to notice a ///m symbol. I almost crapped my pants! 1988 m3!!! red, black leather, defiatnly had a kit on it, guessing a factory one. I wanted to sit in it (never been in a m3 before) So I opened the drivers side door, looked down and looked at the odom. 27 miles. I can't belive it! I totaly went physco! Whats this car worth? Doubt that he would part with it, if he knows what it truely is. NOTE TO SELF: marry this girl, and get the m3 as a wedding gift???? Anyways, just excited about my discovery, and wanted to let you all know what I found this morning....this day will never be forgot in the life of Kraig Snowden.
