I don't really know about all this but I'm pretty sure that the EPA will come in and require emissions testing if an area is too polluted according to their methods of measurement. I've heard that Austin could be in trouble if it gets worse but that's all. I thought that when I heard that, it was said that Austin could get emissions testing just like Dallas and Houston.

I wonder about your idea of getting inspections outside the area. Maybe they have different stickers?

I'm in school here in Waco. I usually get my car inspected in Houston area though. When did they start doing this? Will they ever make it a statewide requirement? Does the Austin area have emissions inspections? From what I understood they attempted to require emissions testing in TX a few years ago but failed to do so...
Whats to stop people from simply traveling outside the city to have their cars inspected to pass emissions??

Jeff J.

Yes, it's a city-by-city thing. Don't you live in Houston? If so, I thought there was emissions testing there as well.

I thought we didnt have emissions testing here? Is this only a Dallas area thing? Whats the deal? I'll never pass with my Euro resonator :(

Jeff J.

I have a Dinan chip but I've started to smell fuel more than I ever have since owning my M3 so I'll be trying to get the friendly inspection probably.
