it's a stainless steel device that has preforated fins. you install it behind the air filter but before the airbox....in the M3 case, you would install it in the intake hose. it just fits inside and it causes the air to flow in a tornadoe style...it supposedly allows for better mixture, increases horsepower, and increase fuel efficiency.
