Check your in tank pump. The E30 M3 has dual pumps and the internal one has a habit of going wonky. This can cause the fuel starvation you describe.

Roops.

Just bought what I thought was a great little red E30 M3 the other day and an odd thing happened today after I had it out for about 10 minutes. When I went "briskly" around a corner, my car hesitated (ie., it was stumbling; when I had the accelerator pedal fully on the floor, the engine's RPM's would rise and full suddenly) for about a minute, regained power for another minute and then started hesitating again. I pulled over to the side of the road, restarted the car, and it the hesitation didn't recur. Lastly, I did notice a slight gasoline smell eminating from the engine after the car starting acting up. What could this be??? The car never stalled...but I'm worried...
