1) Intake air leaks
2) Fuel injectors clogged or not opening
3) Fuel pressure low
4) Coolant temp sensor faulty
5) Throttle switch incorrectly adjusted or faulty
6) Idle speed control system faulty
These are the most likely causes.

I have owned the E30 M3 for eight years in that time it has never let me down, however of late the car has got very fluffy below 4000 revs and its idle is at 1000rpm. I have replaced the air flow meter for a new one, i have checked for air leaks at all the common places etc. The ECU has been replaced along with the idle air valve none of which have made a difference. The car seems to be running lean and i can not get the mixure any richer using the screw in the air flow meter. Any body got any ideas?
