Problem with Sparco front strut bar. (archive)

Ive just installed a Sparco front strut bar on my E30 M3. At first, the bolt at the back of the intake plenum was in contact with the strut bar and shook the whole car. I took off the strut bar and put washers under the strut bar mounting bolts. This created a bit of clearance wherein the engine was no longer in contack with the strut bar. However I think under hard acceleration and when going over bumps and potholes, the engine still hits the strut bar. I know this because I can hear it and I can see paint chipping of the strut bar near the rear. Will this cause problems with the engine/engine mount/ trans etc...? Any advice on this?
