I'm trying to pass smog in California and they won't believe me when I tell them the e30 m3 has no check engine light (MIL - malfunction indicator light). The guy even suggested that it ws a re-stickered gray market car. Geez. Two years ago I talked the last smog place into ignoring the missing light as my emissions were ridiculously low. Now I have to go the Test Only station. The books they have indicate all e30's have the check engine light and make no differentiation for the m3. How do you other California m3 owners get past this? Thanks in advance.

I have heard the same problem before in Ca.
If the smog tech was doing his properly we would not run into this problem. ALLDATA clearly states that the M3 does not have a ck engine light. The tech that smogged my car gave me a copy of the requirments for the M3 for future lames. If you need a copy let me know I will email you one .
